Moments in Mountaineer Tweeting (#2)

As an unabashed John Flowers fan, I feel confident saying his is the team’s most indispensable Twitter account. After today’s disheartening loss to Marquette - in which the team again struggled to achieve simultaneous offensive and defensive consistency, Flowers wrote this:

Damn I feel like playin in traffic on i95 right now
Head up John Flowers. This isn’t gonna get better if you’re not the man you’ve spent the last four plus years being.

Moments in Mountaineer Tweeting (#3)

John Flowers, celebrating the morning, writes:

RugRats on!!!
The disconnect between Flowers on the court - scrapping, grabbing rebounds, blocking shots into next week - and him off it would be disconcerting if it wasn’t so jovial.

Moments in Mountaineer Tweeting (#4)

Truck Bryant’s heart is heavy today, and not entirely because of the loss to Marshall. He tweets:

“Damn it sucks when u mess up on the court but sucks even more when u mess up off the court with someone that love u…”
Yikes.

Moments in Mountaineer Tweeting (#5)

John Flowers today wished the women’s basketball team luck, but qualified it with a nod to UConn’s Maya Moore, about whom he tweeted the following:

I got a crush on Maya Moore…jus cuz she can hoop lol I’m a sucka for ladies that can hoop ugggghh
So he wants a Mountaineer win but he wants a date. Fair enough. Meanwhile, a totally unsubstantiated theory: John Flowers pays more attention to the women’s basketball team than other Mountaineers because he was raised by one of the all time great women’s basketball players.

Moments In (Ex) Mountaineer Tweeting (#6)

Dan Jennings isn’t a Mountaineer currently - hopefully he comes back and is…redempted? That’s not a word. But it should be. Anyway, he tweeted this:

In my rocks class
I genuinely enjoy the ongoing updates from players about their classes, not only because they don’t seem to like them very much, but because they sound so much like I did at the same age. Furthermore, I like that Dan Jennings boils down the entire science of geology to the term “rocks class.” Jennings is an Occam’s Razor adherent. It’s a class. It’s about rocks. “Rocks class.”

Moments in Mountaineer Tweeting (#7)

John Flowers brings the truth. Or, perhaps more accurately, his mother’s truth:

“I don’t talk shit off the court…”let ya game speak 4 it’s self”—- my mama”
His mama, of course, was Pam Kelly-Flowers, a Hall-of-Famer. Long live John Flowers. (We will agree, as die hard fans of both Flowers and punctuation, to ignore the typo.)

Moments In Mountaineer Tweeting (#8)

John Flowers’s still has it, and by “it” I mean a question that boggles the mind.

I’m surprised the government hasn’t come up wit a way 2 stop tornados
Ignore the typo. Focus on the wonderment.

Moments in Mountaineer Tweeting (#9)

John Flowers kids. He’s trying to educate:

Nvr dance wit a girl that’s wearing a bikini and u only have on swim trunks…jus don’t do it lol
Let’s chalk that up to lessons I wish I’d been forced to learn. (Also, some other Mountaineer had better step up his game. John Flowers absolutely dominates the WVU Twitter game right now.)

Moments In Mountaineer Tweeting (#10, Historical Edition)

Joe Mazzulla, all-around great Mountaineer, yesterday responded in the following way to somebody who was presumably asking him about his recovery after a night of partying:

How was the bay of pigs RT @GFCoyle: @Jmazzulla21 how’s the resurrection from death going?
Love the historical reference, no matter how inappropriate it might be when compared to a hangover recovery. Mazzulla deserves style points by the dozen for such a response.
