Dodging a Bullet
Morgantown City Councilor Wesley Nugent once ran to be the mayor of Pratt, West Virginia. Pratt is where he grew up. He didn’t win.
Now, owing to fallen revenues and mounting debt, Pratt might be dissolved.
We can consider two conclusions:
1. Although disappointed at the time, Nugent dodged a bullet when he lost that election.
2. Pratt’s downturn began when it failed to elect Nugent.
Perhaps both of those are true. In either case, he’s here now, and we can only hope that Pratt’s problems haven’t followed.
