Governor Declares State of Emergency; Go Check On...
I guess I was a bit glib about tonight’s storms earlier. My daughter was having a sleepover and everybody got together in the living room to watch the wind whip around the trees. The power flickered a few times, going out once, but nothing more serious happened here. But throughout town, power is out, and through West Virginia, news is trickling in that things are worse still.  And, because...

Memo To Entire City Council: Please Grow Up
Here’s the thing about politicians: they love the game of politics. They love the posturing. They love the posing. They love charade of it all. Unfortunately for the citizens who languish under such politicians, the embrace of this political kabuki comes at a cost: anything at all getting done ever. Which is how we’ve ended up with Morgantown’s City Council having the stupidest...

Morgantown Music Month In Review: May
The second month doing this, and I’m already a week late.  Oh well. Deadlines were never my strong suit! This past month didn’t have much going on in the way of live music since May is typically when all the students (and the full-time residents who’ve had enough) head for the hills.  The month was bookended by two excellent shows at Gene’s, which has become my favorite Morgantown venue....

Good. That'll Definitely Fix The Problem.
I am licensed to perform marriages in the state of West Virginia. I’ve performed two so far, and as far as I know, neither of the couples has divorced (although I don’t have much hope for the second pairing). Divorce is an awful thing of course, but the reality of today’s world is that marriages frequently don’t work out.  Fortunately West Virginia has fixed the problem....
